Plexaura flexuosa

(Esper 1792)
Branching colonies, with a strong tendency to branch in one plane. These are typical ‘candelabra’ shaped colonies. This is a common species.

Branching is dense, not open, and is dichotomous. Colonies may reach 50 cm tall, but most commonly rather less.
