Amphimedon compressa

(Duchassaing 1864)
This is a columnar or ’rope’ sponge, commonly seen as sturdy vertical growths. It is bright red, to orange.

Exhalent pores are large and conspicuous, scattered rather than in clear rows. They usually have clear rims raised proud of the surface. The surface is rough and porous.
