Callyspongia vaginalis A(Lamarck 1814)
Usually grey, this sponge consists basically of groups or chains of tubes. However, many apertures are oval, becoming very elongated, almost fan-like at the extreme end of this development, all features being seen on the same colony.

Branching is from the base.

The outside of the tubes is sparsely covered with small spiny projections.
