Large, fat tubes, with very thick walls and a relatively small exhalent aperture.

The outer surface is very rough, and usually covered in sediment and encrusting organisms. The surface is riddled with small, paper thin "fistules", porous inhalent, finger-like structures.

The lip of the aperture is thin, almost membrane-like, and protruding.
