Photo 1 of
Ircinia strobilina(Lamarck 1816)
Massive in shape, though less than 0.3 metres across. The surface is covered with small spiny structures, with slight cross-link ridges between pinnacles, but not with a well developed lattice-like network as in Ircinia felix.

The exhalent pores are usually clustered in deprressions at the top of the sponge. Inhalent pores are much smaller and scattered all over the surface but particularly the lower parts of the sides.

Colour is grey to black.
