Millepora striata

(Duchassaing 1864)
This is a delicately branching species, forming colonies of interlocking, almost lacy fronds. The fronds themselves may have triangular or box-shaped cross-sections, with multiple ridges running along their length. In wave-exposed areas it may be mainly encrusting, but always with the distinguishing fronds rising from the base.

It may be found in seagrass beds and on rubble areas, as well as on reefs.
