Agelas conifera A

(Schmidt 1870)
Chains of closely fused tubes, forming antlers and horns over 1 m long. These antlers may grow nearly vertically upwards, they may branch, or may extend horizontally, but in all cases their component units are angled upwards.

The texture is rubbery but flexible and tough, with a smooth outer surface. Colonies are always basically brown, with reddish tints.

The two forms are likely to be the same species (S. Zea) although they are clearly distinguishable.
