This is a spreading mass, forming chains or 'runners', or clumps. Exhalent appertures may be joined almost to their tops, or they may form low, tapered tubes, with numerous tubes all less than 25 cm tall. The tubes project upwards from an expansive, spreading base. Tubes, if they develop, rarely branch and are not connected above the base.

Appertures are lighter in colour than the main body, with a circular membranous ring at the top of each.

The outer surface is patterned with irregular ridges, (not seen in the other species shown here).

Colours are greens and browns, often with yellowish patches.
